Jörg Forbrig is managing director for the Transatlantic Trusts, GMF’s long-term programming to assist civil society and bolster democracy in Central and Eastern Europe. Based in GMF’s Berlin office, he leads the “Engaging Central Europe” program, the Fund for Belarus Democracy, and the “Ukraine: Resilience and Recovery” initiative. He also works closely with the Balkan Trust for Democracy and the Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation.  

Forbrig’s analytical and policy work focuses on the eastern-most member countries of the European Union and NATO, the EU's eastern and southeastern neighborhoods, and Russia. He has been published widely on democracy, civil society, and Central and Eastern European affairs, and is the author of Reclaiming Democracy (2007), Prospects for Democracy in Belarus (2006), and Revisiting Youth Political Participation (2005). He is also a regular contributor to major international media. 

Thomas Kleine-Brockhoff is the Guido Goldman Distinguished Scholar for Geostrategy, based in GMF’s Berlin office, which he led for five years. With an earlier stint at GMF in Washington, DC, he has served on the organization’s executive team for a decade. 

Between 2013 and 2017, Kleine-Brockhoff served as an advisor to German President Joachim Gauck, overseeing policy planning and speechwriting. He started his career as a journalist with DIE ZEIT, Germany’s intellectual weekly, and became its Washington bureau chief. 

Dr. Garima Mohan is a senior fellow in the Indo-Pacific program, where she leads the work on India and heads the India Trilateral Forum. Based in GMF’s office in Berlin, her research focuses on Europe-India ties, EU foreign policy in Asia, and security in the Indo-Pacific. Prior to joining GMF, she was the acting team leader and coordinator for the EU’s Asia-Pacific Research and Advice Network (APRAN), which supports EU policymakers on issues concerning the Asia-Pacific. She also led the Global Orders program at the Global Public Policy Institute in Berlin.

Christiane Heimann is a visiting fellow at GMF and a research fellow at the Research Institute for Vocational Education of the Forschungsinstitut Betriebliche Bildung. In 2016–17, she was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. Her work has been published in international academic journals, book series, and for the European Commission, and political foundations. She completed her doctoral studies in 2016 at the Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences, where she was the recipient of a Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation scholarship. In the course of her doctoral studies, she arranged research stays at University College London and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Prior to her graduate studies, Heimann held the position of lecturer at the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern and visiting lecturer at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She received a bachelor’s degree in European studies and social sciences at Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg and the Universidad de Salamanca.
