  • Karen Donfried, President, The German Marshall Fund of the United States

As many European nations tighten restrictions amid fears of a second wave of coronavirus infections, the scene in Sweden could not be more stark in contrast. After experiencing an early summer surge in new cases, Sweden again has one of the lowest infection rates in Europe and life still has some semblance of normality. Has Sweden found the sustainable response to the pandemic so many other countries have searched for, or is the relatively low case-load an abnormality?

To further examine the state of the pandemic in Sweden, The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is pleased to invite you to a conversation with Dr. Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s chief epidemiologist overseeing the government’s response to the coronavirus. The conversation, moderated by GMF President Karen Donfried, will outline the steps Sweden has taken and discuss key takeaways for the transatlantic community.
