Zuzana Bahulova’s MMF Experience
Dr. Zuzana Oharek Bahulova is a Czech designer and animator with a passion for innovation. She was previously head of design and shoe construction at Tomas Bata University’s Footwear Research Center in Zlin, Czechia, and art director of Film Knot, a film studio and educational center, in Zlin. She holds a PhD in film animation from Tomas Bata University.
Bahulova achieved widespread success as a designer for national and Olympic teams’ sports clothing. She has designed collections for the German, Norwegian, Hungarian, and Belarusian national rowing teams, and for official World Rowing merchandise. Her designs have been worn by country teams at the Olympic Games in London, Rio de Janeiro, and Pyeongchang.
In spring 2022, Bahulova participated in the Marshall Memorial Fellowship, traveling across the United States for three weeks. She visited five cities—New York; Washington, DC; San Antonio, Texas; Boise, Idaho; and Charlotte, North Carolina—and met with local government and business leaders. Along the way, she drew sketches to capture snapshots of her experiences and the diversity of American life, providing a unique window into the MMF program experience. These illustrations are below.
