Falling wealth among the middle and working classes is causing voters to turn their backs on established parties and fanning the flames of populism across the globe, an analysis suggests.

The failure of political parties to respond to the decline in relative prosperity has formed the backdrop to the rise of Donald Trump, the collapse of the faith in President Rousseff of Brazil and the surge of extremists in Europe, it is claimed.
