WASHINGTON, DC (September 23, 2024) — The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is delighted to announce the appointment of Tara Hariharan and David A. Greene as trustees.

Hariharan and Greene will help to oversee GMF’s strategic direction and operations in its US headquarters and seven European offices at a crucial geopolitical juncture. They will also provide guidance on GMF’s extensive transatlantic activities to shape future economic policies, address geopolitical risk, model new global trends, and develop the next generation of transatlantic leaders.

Hariharan, a 2014 Marshall Memorial Fellow, is managing director of global macro research at NWI Management LP, a New York-based hedge fund. She is a board member of the American Council on Germany, a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a member of the Economic Club of New York and the Inter-American Dialogue. She was a 2023 Atlantic Council Millennium Leadership Fellow and a 2022 Economic Club of New York Fellow.

Greene has been the president of Colby College since July 2014. Before his tenure at Colby, Greene was executive vice president of the University of Chicago and, prior to that, served in senior leadership roles at Brown University and Smith College. He is a board member of the Wyeth Foundation for American Art, the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole, and the Kents Hill School. He is a member of the Council on Competitiveness and the American Talent Initiative.

“We are thrilled to welcome David and Tara. Their unique perspectives on economics, politics, and cultivating a new generation of transatlantic leaders will be indispensable to the GMF Board as we chart the course for the organization in the years to come,” said Board Chair Christopher M. Schroeder.

Their terms of service are effective immediately.
