WASHINGTON—The German Marshall Fund of the United States is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Corinna Hörst as the new Guido Goldman Director of Leadership programs. In this role, Dr. Hörst will lead GMF’s diverse portfolio of leadership development initiatives, including five fellowship programs for established, mid-career, and next generation leaders who are committed to strengthening transatlantic relations—and a transatlantic network of 4000+ alumni.

Already an established leader at GMF, Dr. Hörst joined the organization in 1999 and has served as a senior fellow and deputy director at GMF’s Brussels office where she supported the executive director in all aspects of strategic planning, daily operations and management, personnel, and communication. Dr. Hörst has played a central role in program planning and strengthening GMF’s relationships with EU institutions, NATO, government stakeholders, media, business, as well as the nongovernmental and think tank communities.

Dr. Hörst is also a leading voice on diversity and inclusion efforts in Brussels and beyond. She is member of the steering committee of the Brussels chapter of Women in International Security (WIIS) and co-founder of “The Brussels Binder,” an online database of female policy experts. In 2017, she co-authored the book “Women Leading The Way in Brussels,” with Claudia de Castro Caldeirinha which looks at women leadership in Europe and Brussels. Dr. Hörst holds a Ph.D. and master’s degree in history.

Dr. Hörst is a regular commentator on transatlantic relations, European Union affairs, leadership, as well as diversity and inclusion matters.

The Guido Goldman Director of Leadership Programs is named in honor of the late Guido Goldman, the visionary statesman and transatlanticist who inspired the founding of the German Marshall Fund and left an indelible mark on U.S.-European relations.

Dr. Hörst will continue to be based in GMF’s Brussels office and her role as senior fellow.
