CDU-Panel on Transatlantic Partnership with Minister von der Leyen & Alexandra de Hoop Scheffer
On June 8, Dr. Alexandra de Hoop Scheffer, director of The German Marshall Fund of the United States' (GMF) Paris office, participated in a panel on transatlantic security partnership organized by the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) at the CDU-Headquarters in Berlin.
The panel was introduced by a keynote speech from the German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel MP.
The German Minister of Defense Dr. Ursula von der Leyen MP, and Prof. James D. Bindenagel, director of the Center for International Security and Governance of the University of Bonn, were also speakers on the panel. The discussion was moderated by Karl-Heinz Kamp, director of the German Federal Academy for Security Policy (BAKS).
Dr. de Hoop Scheffer shared her views on French and European perspectives on the future of transatlantic security ahead of the NATO Summit in Warsaw, which takes place from July 8-9.
