During the eighth annual Stockholm China Forum in Stockholm, Sweden, Transatlantic Fellow Bruce Stokes sat down with Xiao Geng of Columbia University to outline some of the less discussed internal economic issues facing China. Geng argues that while the issue of currency manipulation is most prominent in discussions between Western countries, competition for foreign direct investment and low Chinese wages, among other things, play a more important role in economic problems facing the country.
