In U.S. politics, it is hard to make predictions about the future based on midterm results. However, there is no doubt that the November 2018 elections were different in the sense that they resulted in an unusually high voter turnout and in the 116th Congress being more diverse than ever before.  As part of its American Speakers Series, the German Marshall Fund of the United States is pleased to host a discussion on the state of U.S. society, current domestic politics, and recent trends in the Republican and Democratic parties. As the country has begun to look toward the 2020 elections, it seems that diversity will impact the political campaigns and U.S. political leadership.
