While Europe and the United States significantly strengthened their counterterrorism cooperation since 9/11, substantial military victories against ISIS and perceptions about the changing threat landscape could weaken future transatlantic convergence on counterterrorism. Despite the Trump Administration's increased focus on great power competition, terrorism endures, with violent extremist groups such as ISIS continuing to conduct attacks worldwide.

With these ideas in mind, the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) invites you to a conversation with Dafna H. Rand, Nicholas Rasmussen, and Stephen Tankel, to unpack the Trump Administration’s approach to counterterrorism at home and abroad, and to discuss how the Unites States and its European partners, including in the private sector, can bolster cooperation while advancing shared security interests. The discussion will be moderated by GMF Senior Fellow Adnan Kifayat.
