About this event

GMF Berlin recently launched Transatlantic Tuesdays, a regular get-together to discuss the 2020 U.S. presidential election over the course of the year. Every month, we will bring together American and European voices to analyze the latest trends in Washington and to comment on their potential consequences for transatlantic cooperation. Following the brief expert statements (15 minutes in total), we will then engage in an open debate.

Join us for a lively discussion over beer and pretzels!

At round two of Transatlantic Tuesdays, GMF Berlin will continue to provide insights on the recent developments in the run-up to the U.S. presidential elections. We will debate two crucial events realtime: On February 3, the process to pick a Democratic nominee starts with the Iowa caucuses. On February 4, President Trump will give his State of the Union address. Our experts will discuss both events and evaluate their potential impact on the election and on transatlantic cooperation.

Rachael Dean Wilson, Alliance for Securing Democracy, and Miranda Margowsky, Precision Strategies, will join us via zoom from Washington, DC. Rachael has worked for Republican Senator John McCain for six years, Miranda for Democratic Senators, Representatives, and Obama's reelection bid in 2012. Nicolas Bouchet, senior editor and fellow at GMF Berlin will moderate.
