About this event
Join MITRE at 10:00 am ET on Tuesday, May 21 for Taiwan Dynamics in this Decisive Decade, a moderated panel discussion featuring Dr. Bonnie Glaser, Director, Indo-Pacific, at the German Marshall Fund of the U.S., and Rear Admiral Mike Studeman, USN (Ret.), Former Commander of the Office of Naval Intelligence, Indo-Pacific Command Director of Intelligence (2019-2022), and MITRE’s National Security Fellow. Margaret Stromecki, Lead for the Counter-PRC Cell in MITRE’s National Security Sector, will moderate the panel.
Dr. Glaser and Studeman recently traveled to Taiwan where they met senior officials from across the government. They will offer insights from their trip along with analysis based on their decades of experience and on-the-ground engagements on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
Their discussion will cover what to expect in a new President Lai administration; significant Taiwan military and civil defense developments; China's evolving threat posture including gray zone coercion and major offensive action preparations; and other regional dynamics impacting Taiwan. Dr. Glaser and RADM Studeman will also examine timelines, red lines, thresholds for action, miscalculation potential, and risk factors.
We invite you to read Studeman’s op-ed in War on the Rocks for additional context before joining this engaging, insightful discussion.
This hybrid event is co-hosted by MITRE's Center for Strategic Competition (CSC) and the MITRE National Security Sector (MNS), with expert contributors from MNS Counter-PRC Cell (CPC).
