In a context of increasing U.S.-China competition in the Indo-Pacific, India is beginning to look toward Europe as an important partner. The new EU strategy on India generated great enthusiasm in New Delhi, and France has become one of India’s most important strategic partners. Covering a large scope of issues, from political and military cooperation to economic and technological partnership, the strengthening of Europe-India relations could be a defining factor for global affairs.

In this roundtable, GMF Fellow Garima Mohan will discuss India’s evolving policy and renewed interest in Europe. She will argue that common challenges associated with China’s rise have created greater potential for Europe-India cooperation. Finally, she will also discuss the need for a new trilateral partnership between the U.S., France, and India to address challenges in the Indo-Pacific more effectively.
