Moderator
- Derek Chollet, Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor for Security and Defense Policy, The German Marshall Fund of the United States
The German Marshall Fund of the United States is pleased to invite you to a conversation with David Roll to discuss his new book George Marshall: Defender of the Republic. Using newly discovered sources, Roll tracks Marshall’s loyal service to his country spanning both World Wars, including as Chief of Staff of the Army, Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State, and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. GMF Executive Vice President Derek Chollet will moderate the talk, which will chronicle how Marshall’s career and decision-making lead to victory, peace, and eventually prosperity through the Marshall Plan. The discussion will also explore what the U.S. policy community can learn from Marshall’s story during this current inflection point in history.
GMF’s Future of American Power series discusses new books focusing on U.S. power in the world. In line with GMF's mission to strengthen transatlantic relations, these conversations specifically focus on the implications of U.S. foreign policy for its European partners, as well as other key regions for the transatlantic relationship.
