Nation states across the globe have urged citizens to stay at home to avoid further spread of the coronavirus, with dire implications for the global economy. Sweden has taken a different approach to the coronavirus crisis. While large gatherings are prohibited and high schools and colleges remain closed, restaurants, bars, shops, and parks remain open. Only the most vulnerable are urged to self-isolate. The aim is to control the spread of the virus in order to ease the pressure on the national health system.

To unpack Sweden's strategy further, The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) together with the Embassy of Sweden US are pleased to invite you to a conversation with Dr. Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s chief epidemiologist overseeing the government’s response to the coronavirus. He has been described as Sweden’s Anthony Fauci. The conversation, which will be moderated by GMF President Karen Donfried, will outline the steps Sweden has taken and discuss key takeaways for the transatlantic community.

Please register to join the conversation and take part in the Q&A with the panelists.
