European Defense in a New Transatlantic Era
About this event
This workshop, in cooperation with the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will bring together 30 think tankers, security experts, and government officials to discuss potential scenarios and best practices in European security with special attention given to the perspectives of Nordic countries. European security is at the crossroads. Europe is faced with a deteriorating security environment and hugely diverse security challenges, ranging from “traditional” threats to territorial integrity to cyber security. At the same time, the role of the UK after Brexit in European defense remains ambiguous and the transatlantic link is under severe stress since Donald Trump became U.S. president. This context requires clarifying the articulation of the different platforms of decision-making and political leadership for European defense.
