The challenges posed by China’s continued rise have never loomed larger in U.S.-Europe relations. In a new Center for New American Security (CNAS) and German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) report “Charting a Transatlantic Course to Address China,” authors Julie Smith, Dr. Andrea Kendall-Taylor, Carisa Nietsche and Ellison Laskowski outline a roadmap for how the United States and Europe can deepen coordination and cooperation to navigate the challenges posed by China’s growing influence. The report identifies nearly 60 specific policy recommendations for greater cooperation between the United States and Europe across four vectors of competition, including technology, investment, trade, and global governance. To protect transatlantic economic competitiveness, advance democratic rules and norms, and set the standards of the future, the United States and Europe must compete together.
