To counter the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the Biden administration has passed an economic stimulus package, the American Rescue Plan, that is unprecedented in size and scope. At a size of $1.9 trillion, it aims to offer economic relief to the majority of Americans and to provide financial support for the expansion and acceleration of vaccination efforts. Because of its enormous sum, the package is meeting resistance and questions about its effectiveness as well as its possible impact on inflation.

Jason Furman, in conversation with Jacob Kirkegaard, will assess how the relief package will impact the U.S. economy and discuss how governments can promote economic recovery and prosperity in a post-pandemic world.
