  • Jonathan D. Katz, Senior Fellow, Frontlines of Democracy Initiative, The German Marshall Fund of the United States

We invite you to join the German Marshall Fund of the United States and its Frontlines of Democracy Initiative for a timely conversation with Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration. Deputy Prime Minister Kuleba is responsible for Ukraine’s NATO and European Union integration efforts and his visit to Washington comes on the heels of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s participation in the Normandy Group meeting in France on December 9 with Russian President Vladamir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. This meeting was the first face to face meeting for the presidents of Ukraine and Russia. The focus of the meeting was the resolution of the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine and the implementation of the Minsk Agreements.

Deputy Prime Minister Kuleba will provide an update on the outcome of the Normandy Group meeting, the Ukrainian government’s next steps to end the conflict in Donbas and address continued Russian aggression. He will also provide and update on Ukraine’s efforts to further integrate into the EU and NATO as well as the government’s efforts to carry out needed political, economic, judicial, and security reforms. His trip to Washington also comes a little over a week after NATO’s London summit where alliance members again committed to keeping NATO's doors open to new members, including Ukraine.
