Georgina Wright joins German Marshall Fund of the United States
Washington, DC – The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) announces that Georgina Wright, a leading expert on the European Union and British foreign policy, has joined the organization as special adviser to the president and senior fellow.
Wright brings over a decade of experience analyzing UK and European decision-making, economic security, and foreign policy. She has advised governments and EU institutions, shaping critical debates on the future of the EU, UK-EU economic relations, and transatlantic cooperation.
Before joining GMF, Wright was deputy director for international studies at Institut Montaigne, a French think tank, where she led research on EU foreign policy and economic security. She has also held roles at the Institute for Government and Chatham House in London, as well as the European Commission and NATO in Brussels, providing expertise on European governance and international affairs.
Wright is a trusted voice in European policymaking, regularly advising national governments, appearing in the media, and testifying before the US Congress and parliaments across Europe. Her work has helped shape discussions on EU policy making, UK-EU relations, and France’s influence within the EU.
“At a time of growing geopolitical and economic uncertainty, Georgina’s expertise on European affairs will be an invaluable addition to GMF,” said GMF Acting President Dr. Alexandra de Hoop Scheffer. “Her deep understanding of European decision-making, sharp analysis on economic security, and ability to engage with policymakers will strengthen GMF’s mission to advance a resilient transatlantic partnership.”
Wright added: “The relationship between Europe, the UK, and the United States is more important than ever. From economic security to foreign policy, the challenges we face require innovative thinking. I am excited to join GMF and contribute to rethinking transatlantic ties at such a critical moment.”
Wright will play a key role in expanding GMF’s research and engagement on the United Kingdom, the EU’s competitiveness agenda, and the future of European governance, fostering dialogue among policymakers and thought leaders to navigate shared challenges.
