GMF launches Transatlantic Task Force
The transatlantic relationship stands at a critical juncture amid transformational shifts in global and domestic landscapes. As US and European stakeholders call for a comprehensive reassessment of transatlantic cooperation, GMF is bringing together a diverse group of distinguished policymakers, military leaders, technology executives, strategic thinkers, academics, and private-sector representatives from both sides of the Atlantic, to forge bold and innovative proposals to reinvigorate and strengthen transatlantic ties in the next five years.
General (ret.) Curtis Scaparrotti, GMF trustee, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and Commander of US European Command, and Dr. Alexandra de Hoop Scheffer, GMF’s acting president, will serve as Transatlantic Task Force co-chairs.
Drawing from the Task Force's recommendations, GMF experts will co-author a "Roadmap for Transatlantic Relations" covering security and defense, trade, technological innovation, and global partnerships, with a focus on the 2025-2030 period. The roadmap will outline a forward-looking and actionable blueprint for a revitalized transatlantic partnership, equipping US and European stakeholders with strategies to effectively address both domestic and global challenges.
The Task Force’s key recommendations will be unveiled at GMF's Brussels Forum 2025, on June 11-12, bringing together influential voices from both sides of the Atlantic to shape the alliance's trajectory in the coming years.
