In 8 Minutes or Less: The Link Between Cell Phone Technology and Global Energy Access
GMF’s Sarah Halls sat down with Vahid Monadjem, CEO of Nomanini, to speak about how lessons learned from the cell phone industry’s business model could be applied to the energy sector. Monadjem highlighted the growing demand of cell phone technology in emerging markets and how supplying payment mechanisms enables industries to grow, as well as the role of regulation to force competition in the sector. This type of mobile phone technology is now seen as a potential solution for energy access in Africa.
Monadjem is a 2014 Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leader. This podcast was recorded at the Copenhagen Energy Security Dialogues, which took place on November 2, 2014.
