U.S. in Transition - Foreign Policy and Security Implications

It is no surprise that in today’s interconnected world political elections have cross cutting impacts on not only domestic, but also foreign affairs. Statements regarding U.S. foreign policy made by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump during the campaign process, combined with his transition team’s decisions moving forward, have people across the globe wondering what the new administration’s foreign policy will entail. Non-interventionist rhetoric that has reemerged of late is not a new phenomenon in the U.S.; however, the factors that lead to its modern day appeal could play a role in the future of U.S. foreign and security policies. Furthermore, there are possibilities that new kinds of relationships will form between the U.S., Russia, and China.
